H+STEM Day: Home Front Heroes

Step back into the American Home Front during World War II at the Mighty Eighth’s next H+STEM Day!

While millions of Americans served overseas, millions more remained at home supporting the war effort through hard work, innovation, and sacrifice. From rationing and victory gardens to scientific breakthroughs and industrial production, life on the Home Front required creativity, resilience, and determination.

During this interactive H+STEM (History + STEM) Day, families will explore how science, technology, and everyday ingenuity shaped daily life in the United States during WWII. Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, students will discover how Americans supported the war effort while raising families, attending school, and keeping communities strong.

Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force
