The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is celebrating its new traveling exhibit by The National WWII Museum New Orleans with a Grand Opening weekend March 25 – 26. Manufacturing Victory: The Arsenal of Democracy tells the inspiring story of the Home Front effort that produced tanks, planes, ships, and guns with staggering speed and unparalleled energy, a surge in productivity that not only brought the country out of depression, but also created mighty military forces, supplied the Allies abroad, and opened new doors of opportunity and social change. The Grand Opening will include tours, presentations and several fun activities for children including a scavenger hunt with prizes. On Sunday, admission will be free for all Chatham, Effingham and Bryan County residents. The free admission day is sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Gulfstream’s Savannah headquarters.
