Shotguns, sport shooting and the Eighth Air Force do not seem to have much in common; however, gunners often trained shooting skeet to hone their skills before missions. In fact, on exhibit in Honoring the Eighth’s 20th Fighter Group case is Leo H. Kerns’ Squadron Skeet Team medal. This is one small piece of history visitors to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force experience. You can be part of preserving and sharing this history by supporting the 2022 Wick Searcy Memorial Clay Shoot on Friday, September 23rd , at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.
