January 28, 2017 is the 75th Anniversary of the activation of the 8th Air Force in Savannah and we are celebrating by putting together model planes! This camp gives two opportunities for families, there is an all-day camp, 10 am – 3 pm for $30, kids 6 – 16. Parents, you can drop off your kids in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. (lunch is included) Or, you can sign up for one of our family building sessions. These start at 10 am and 1 pm and are $15 per child. All ages are welcome at these sessions, but an adult must stay with the kids. Included in the price of both the all-day camp and the family sessions are the planes! We’ll be putting together models of the P-38 Lightning, which retail for $23.99. P-38-F-5B-Photorecon-Lightning-1S The P-38 was called the “fork-tailed devil,” by the Luftwaffe. The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was the only American fighter in continuous production from before WWII to the end of hostilities. A full-version canopy, tricycle landing gear and twin superchargers made the P-38 an advanced design for its time. Help us celebrate the 8th Air Force with this piece of aviation and military history! You can sign up by calling Rich Lamb at 912.988.1832 or emailing at rlamb@mightyeighth.org
