RETREAD: World War I veteran who volunteered to serve again in World War II
Grandson Michael Webster discovered his grandfather’s deepest feelings about his role as an Eighth Air Force Commander, father and husband when he read the WWII letters sent between his grandparents, Colonel Hank Stovall and his wife “Pud.”
His grandparents understood the sacrifice and loss of the war. Their eldest son, LT “Bud” Stovall, was killed in action serving in the 56thFG 62ndSQ 8th Air Force.
